Vasantotsav is a tribute to the musical legend, Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande rightfully graced by his grandson Rahul Deshpande, and the famous vocalist, Priyanka Barve. Vasantotsav has a legacy of over 16 years and this would be the first time it would be in the various cities in the United States.
Rahul Deshpande - Rahul is a talended Indian Classical Music vocalist and the grandson of great Vasantrao Deshpande. Rahul developed his interest in vocal music by studying the music of Kumar Gandharva. Initially, he sought guidance of Pandit Gangadharbuva Pimpalkhare and Dr. Madhusudhan Patwardhan. He further learnt under the tutelage of Smt. Ushatai Chipalkatti and Pandit Mukul Shivputra. He also learned the tabla from Suresh Samant. His repertoire includes khayal, tap khayal, dhruvpad, thumri, kajri, hori, tappa, ghazal, abhanga, bhajan, natyasangeet and bhavgeet. He is the recipient of awards such as Master Dinanath Mangeshkar award, Kothrud Bhushan award, National Film Award for the best male playback singer and many others.
Priyanka Barve - Priyanka is a playback singer and actress. Barve has sung songs in Marathi, Hindi and in other Indian languages as well. She comes from a family with a musical background. She is the granddaughter of veteran vocalists Padmakar and Malati Pande-Barve. Her grandmother guided her in classical singing pursuits.
